Greg + Blair | Wedding Day | Toronto, ON

Greg & Blair’s wedding was the kind of wedding I would LOVE to document, over and over again. Hosting their intimate ceremony in the backyard of their gorgeous new home in Cabbagetown, with only an small group of guests, provided an intimate and personal space for the couple and their guests to move at a slower pace, allowing them to be present, connect and celebrate like a wedding day deserves.

Every aspect of their wedding day was planned with intention. Their ceremony was officiated by Greg’s colleague and friend, a newly appointed Judge, which meant absolutely every person in attendance were people who were important to them. Their portraits were taken in the Cabbagetown neighbourhood, where we walked leisurely together following their ceremony, stopping for pictures in places that were meaningful to them and that would reflect the unique character of the community. Following their portraits, we returned to their home for the Tea Ceremony. A tea ceremony is a Chinese tradition where the couple serve tea to their respective families, including parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, and other esteemed elders, an in turn, the elders provide well wishes and advice for a happy marriage; thereby unifying both families). After the tea ceremony, the couple and their guests enjoyed drinks and food together in their home.

The celebration continued later that evening at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen in Liberty Village, where they hosted their wedding reception for 150 people. Guests indulged in handcrafted cocktails and a delicious gourmet 3-course meal, followed by a vibrant dance party (DJ’d by Toronto’s Phil Villeneuve, co-founder of YOHOMO) that lasted well into the early hours of the morning.

Bearing witness to Greg & Blair’s love and the community they have created around them was truly a privilege. I was moved to tears many times throughout the day, witnessing the love and admiration that their family and friends have for these two men, as individuals and as a couple. Their people are the true definition of unconditional love, acceptance and respect. My heart heals a little more when I see LGBTQ+ folks be celebrated and loved.

Thank you Greg & Blair for the privilege of photographing your wedding day. I will forever be changed because of it.
