Alex and Lindsay’s wedding was joyful, relaxed, and wonderfully personal—the kind of day where the people, the laughter, and the celebration mattered far more than following a traditional wedding-day formula.

Set against the beautiful landscape of Collingwood, Ontario, they celebrated surrounded by the people they love most, with a day full of emotion, connection, and so many wonderfully candid moments.

From the beginning, their wedding felt unmistakably like them.

A Country Wedding in Collingwood

One of the things I love about photographing weddings outside Toronto is the space.

Open landscapes, greenery and the quieter pace of the countryside create an entirely different feeling from a wedding in the city. There is room to wander, room to breathe and plenty of opportunities to step away together for portraits without making the photography feel like a separate production within the wedding day.

For Alex and Lindsay, that meant creating photographs that incorporated the beautiful natural surroundings while still keeping the focus exactly where it belonged: on the two of them.

Some portraits were intentionally created. Many of my favourite photographs, though, happened in between.

The laughter. The glances. Someone reaching for the other person. The movement and chaos around them. The expressions that appear for half a second and disappear again.

Those are the things I’m always watching for.

Photographing the Day as It Actually Feels

My approach to weddings is rooted in documentary photography.

That doesn’t mean there is no direction. I’ll help you find beautiful light, guide you through portraits and step in whenever you need me.

But for most of the day, I want you to forget about the camera as much as possible.

Because your wedding isn't a photoshoot.

It's a day you're actually living.

While you’re doing that, I’m paying attention to everything happening around you: your families and friends, the emotion during the ceremony, the spontaneous embraces, the laughter, the tears, the dance floor and all of those tiny interactions you may not even realize happened until you see your photographs afterward.

Those moments give a wedding gallery its life.

LGBTQ+ Wedding Photography in Ontario

As a queer wedding photographer in Ontario, photographing LGBTQ+ weddings has particular meaning for me.

Queer couples have spent generations being told—directly and indirectly—that our relationships should look a certain way, fit into particular roles, or remain less visible.

Weddings give us an opportunity to do something different.

You get to decide which traditions feel meaningful. You get to leave behind the ones that don't. You get to decide what you wear, how you walk down the aisle, what you call yourselves, who stands beside you and what marriage looks like for the two of you.

There is no template you need to follow.

And I don't approach photographing queer couples with one either.

My goal isn't to fit two people into traditional gendered wedding roles for the sake of photographs. It's to pay attention to the relationship that's actually in front of me—the ways you interact, make each other laugh, comfort each other and naturally move through the world together.

Alex and Lindsay's wedding was filled with exactly those moments.

A Wedding That Felt Like Them

Ultimately, the photographs I want to make aren't simply about documenting the details of a wedding.

They're about preserving relationships.

Years from now, I want Alex and Lindsay to be able to look through this gallery and remember not only what they wore or how everything looked, but the people who surrounded them, how hard they laughed, the emotion of the day and what it felt like to stand together in the middle of all of it.

Because that's the part worth holding onto.
