Meaghan + Alex | Intimate Prince Edward County Micro Wedding
There is something I love about weddings that strip everything back to what matters most: two people getting married, the people closest to them, and enough time and space to actually experience it all.
Meaghan and Alex chose to celebrate their wedding in Prince Edward County, Ontario, with an intimate micro wedding surrounded by the people they love most.
Their day was relaxed, personal and beautifully uncomplicated.
An Intimate Wedding in Prince Edward County
Prince Edward County is one of my favourite places in Ontario to photograph weddings. There is a slower pace to being in the County—the open countryside, old farmhouses and barns, winding roads and seemingly endless fields make it feel like you've travelled much farther from Toronto than you actually have.
It also lends itself particularly well to intimate weddings.
Instead of building the day around an elaborate timeline or moving between multiple locations, a smaller celebration creates room to slow things down. There is more time for conversations, more time with family and friends, and more opportunities for all of the little unscripted moments that happen in between the traditional parts of a wedding day.
Those are the moments I’m always looking for.
Documentary Wedding Photography
My approach to wedding photography is rooted in documenting a day as it actually unfolds.
Of course we'll make beautiful portraits together. I'll find good light, offer direction when it's helpful, and make sure you aren't left wondering what to do with your hands.
But I don't want your wedding to become a photoshoot.
The photographs that often mean the most years later aren't necessarily the perfectly composed portraits. They're the expression on someone's face during the ceremony. A parent watching from across the room. Your friends making each other laugh. Someone reaching for your hand. The chaos, emotion, movement and tiny interactions you didn't even realize were happening around you.
A smaller wedding gives those moments so much room to breathe.
With Meaghan and Alex, we were able to move between those candid moments and relaxed portraits without pulling them away from their celebration for long stretches of time.
The result is a gallery that feels less like a collection of individual wedding photographs and more like the story of a day.
A Prince Edward County Micro Wedding
One of the things I especially appreciate about micro weddings is that intimate doesn't mean less meaningful.
A wedding doesn't need 150 guests, an enormous venue or a packed itinerary to feel significant. For some couples, having fewer people creates exactly the kind of celebration they want: personal, connected and centred on spending meaningful time together.
Meaghan and Alex's wedding was a beautiful example of that.
A celebration in the Ontario countryside. Their favourite people gathered around them. Time to be present with one another. And plenty of moments worth remembering along the way.
Ultimately, that's what I want wedding photographs to do.
Not simply show you what everything looked like, but take you back to the people who were there, the moments you might have missed, and what it felt like to live this particular day together.
